What?

The 2017 East of the River Book Festival is a magnet for city dwellers from all wards to recognize and enjoy a literary event that highlights the efforts of indie writers, small publishers and tiny book shops. It is a place that is fertile ground to plant ideas to meet the need of culturally diverse books that reflect places and characters that are typically on the fringe of society or omitted. This book festival is a celebration of those places and characters, both real and imaginary, to be central to stories that reflect different perspectives. We celebrate in two ways:

  1. We encourage all attendees to dress in a costume that will reflect a favorite author or book character.
  2. We organized a roster of panels and workshops to inspire both novice and seasoned authors to bring their book ideas to reality! In addition, resources will be provided to help self-published authors along their journey!

This year, our vision has broadened and includes storytellers who are bloggers, social media power houses, poets, and podcasters! Join the fun and be inspired to tell your story!
